Cutting your Electric Bill

We all know how the electric bill can go sky high in the winter and then again in the summer heat. A programmable thermostat is the easiest way to control that. You can set it for them temperature you want in the morning, afternoon and the evening. Adjusting a little higher for the summer and lower during the winter can help everyday and it will show on your bill.
Ceiling fans circulate the air and can make you feel cooler even though the fan does not cool, it just moves the air. Your dishwasher too can be run on a shorter cycle and allow the dishes to air dry instead of heat drying.
You can also unplug anything that you are not  using.  If it is plugged in it is using electricity, although it is a small amount, all  those appliances can add up.  Light bulbs can be changed to compact fluorescent bulbs and save too. And the very obvious one is to turn off the lights when you leave a room. Home insulation is part of this too. Heavy curtains keep the cold on the window glass from cooling the inside air and just the reverse in the summer.
